Hidden Secrets of Bibi ka Maqbara- The Maqbara with Aesthetic Background

The most remarkable building at Aurangabad town is the beautiful tomb of Dilras Bano Begum (Rabiya-ud-Daurani) erected in the suburb of Begampura. The mausoleum of Rabiya-ud-Daurani creates an aesthetic influence, its heavenly beauty lies in being observed from the road between Daulatabad and Aurangabad with a view of the rising sun in the background.[1] The gorgeous setting of hillocks in the background of the Maqbara has greater significance.[2] Importance has always been attached to the natural background setting to enhance the aesthetic beauty of any piece of Mughal architecture.[3]

The Taj of Agra has an open sky in the backdrop[4] but it misses the high hills as present in the backdrop of the Maqbara.

The architect of the mausoleum of Rabiya-ud-Daurani has brilliantly designed the Maqbara with the open sky and beautiful hillocks in the backdrop. The mausoleum is seen with a blue sky in the setting.[5] This vivid celestial backdrop relentlessly changes colours and texture and thus the aesthetic view of the mausoleum always seems to be live and vibrant. Its shades are subtly reflected in the white marble surface of the mausoleum which blends with the colour and theme of the backdrop. This beauty of the mausoleum can be seen from all corners of the town.[6] The dark green hillocks in the background add extremely to the beauty of the snow-white mausoleum. People stand bewildered with an overwhelming feeling of beauty when they see the reflection of the variegated clouds enhancing the beauty of the mausoleum at sunset.

When the mausoleum is seen on a dark night it appears to be tranquilly sleeping, while under the bright full moon[7] it seems to be wide awake.
